Duties and Responsibilities
:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine scope of work.
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools for commercial buildings and condo/apartment buildings.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware.
- Site cleanup as required.
- Complete material take-offs for work tasks.
- Pre-plan tool and material requirements for projects.
- Manage material for work tasks in an efficient manner to minimize waste.
- Maintain active quality control program to ensure compliance with the Cavanagh GC Standards.
- Health and safety policy and procedures for self and other workers.
- Participate in business development with other internal team members to help build and grow the General Contracting sector.
- Manage, mentor and train internal staff.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Red Seal Program an asset.
- Provide own tools as per the Cavanagh Tool List
- Valid driver’s license and own mode of transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions (cold, rain, heat, etc,).
- Ability to meet physical demands of job.
- Impeccable integrity.
- Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
- Strength in analysis and creative problem solving.
- Experience with COR (Certificate of Recognition) is considered an asset.

Wage Range:
The hourly range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $24.00 and $30.00 an hour. However, the range offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
