Summary of Responsibilities
A Design Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the design phase of projects, guiding a team of talented design professionals, and ensuring the successful execution of projects at MAC.
As the standard-bearer for client expectations, the Design Manager is essential in upholding high ethical standards and facilitating effective communication throughout the design process.
Your leadership will be key to maintaining the company's esteemed brand and reputation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong management background, be highly detail-oriented, organized, intuitive, and enthusiastic, with a commitment to excellence.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage the design team, providing direction, mentorship, and support.
- Onboard, train, and mentor new Design Department employees.
- Provide construction feedback, quarterly conversations, and performance evaluations as per company SOPs.
- Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports and create a cadence of accountability.
- Manage department workload, assign teams, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Oversee Company profit center.
- Oversee Millwork.
- Continually improve department workflow, processes, and systems, including drawing set standards, CAD standards, rendering standards, design process checklists, permitting requirements, product standards, etc.
- Oversee the pre-construction schedule to ensure projects are planned efficiently and executed.
- Work closely with the production and sales team to align design specifications with project budgets.
- Validate the accuracy of designs before submission to the clients.
- Ensure all processes align with company goals and client expectations.
- Serve in the leadership team and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field
- Registered Interior Designer or equivalent designation a plus
- 10 years of experience in design related field, preferably within the residential sector
- 5 years in leadership role (Managerial / Supervisor)
- Tech-savvy with construction management (Buildertrend, Google Workspace, Acumatica, Adobe creatine space.
- Technical Design problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Personal characteristics including attention to detail, resourcefulness, collaborative and efficient workstyle, plus a great eye, vision, and passion for design.
Salary & Benefits
- $100,000-$115,000 CAD annually (depending on experience)
