What your day will look like
Project Management & Design
- Provide technical leadership and design expertise for highway and roadway drainage projects, including bridges, culverts, ditching, erosion and scour protection, and storm sewer systems.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis utilizing software such as Visual OTTHYMO, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, CulvertMaster and HY-8.
- Develop and implement stormwater management strategies to provide water quality and quantity controls to mitigate flooding and ensure environmental protection.
- Prepare detailed designs, calculations, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents.
- Manage project scope, budget, and schedule to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, environmental scientists, and other engineers, to achieve project objectives.
- Regular interaction with clients, agencies, utilities and other project stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Provide technical input for delivery of water resource management projects and proposals.
- Provide project management and coordination support for transportation and water resources projects.

What you will need to succeed
Undergraduate degree in engineering or applicable technical degree or diploma.5+ years’ relevant experience in transportation and municipal drainage design.Valid driver's license.Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Visual OTTHYMO, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and related computer models.Strong understanding of municipal and provincial drainage design standards including the Highway Drainage Design Standards (2024) and other Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) guidelines and procedures.Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.A self-motivated individual looking for advancement opportunities.Excellent initiative and attention to detail.Experience
Demonstrated experience in the design and analysis of highway and roadway drainage systems. Previous experience delivering MTO projects would be considered an asset.Proven ability to manage projects effectively and meet deadlines.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.A commitment to quality and client satisfaction.Experience in flood line mapping, stormwater management, and inflow and infiltration studies would be considered an asset.Compensation
$65,000-$115,000
Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range, contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and / or federal law.
