Junior Software Developer
Location : Calgary, Canada (2 days onsite per week)
We are seeking a junior motivated GIS developer to script, develop and automate spatial data processes.
Responsibilities
- Work with spatial delivery and map services team to understand the needs of the business and automate processes through application of technologies, systems, and process changes.
- Conduct process reviews and develop automation solutions which are highly sustainable and value addition to the business.
- Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Stay current with rapidly changing technology, applying it to business needs.
- Perform other duties as required.
Specific Job Duties
As part of a project team to develop and deliver internal process-automation systems, work under the guidance of the Spatial Delivery Team. Perform scripting and development work using Python, C#, PowerShell or Bash. Appreciation of Agile methodologies is important.
Additional Job Responsibilities
Automate delivery reports to track data access and usage.Create efficiencies, automation and build AI capabilities related to customer subscriptions.Support the management of secured account requests, ensuring alignment with security protocols.Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve access issues.Provide support in the automation of processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.Required Technical Skills
Strong knowledge and experience of ESRI technology (ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcSDE).Experience with C# or Python with ArcPy.Knowledge of databases (RDBMS) and database concepts / design.Knowledge of coordinate systems, transformations and projections using EPSG and WKT.
Experience with FME or FME Server (useful).Knowledge of Oracle SQL, Esri ST_Geometry (useful).Knowledge of Unix / Linux environments (useful).Optional Technical Skills
Open source GIS software experience.AWS or other cloud platforms experience.PostGIS or other native geometry types.Cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake / Databricks.Education / Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.Strong knowledge in Esri and related programming languages.Benefits
