Information Technology Governance Consultant
LeverageTek is actively seeking an IT Governance Specialist for a 6-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.
Work Location
The successful candidate will be required to work 1-2x / week on-site at the customer headquarters in Ottawa, ON.
Key Tasks
- Assist the ITS department by providing expert guidance and hands-on support in three key areas : IT Cloud Strategy, IT Governance Framework development, and the implementation of several IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
- Work closely with IT leadership and stakeholders to ensure the effective planning, development, and implementation of these initiatives, aligning IT capabilities with the strategic goals, enhancing service delivery, and optimizing IT operations.

Key Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in IT governance, cloud strategy, and service management within small to medium-sized organizations.
- Proven experience in implementing IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including Service Catalog Management (SCM), Service Request Fulfillment (SRF), Service Level Management (SLM), Application Portfolio Management (APM), and Hardware Asset Management (HAM), with a strong understanding of ITIL best practices.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing IT Governance Frameworks that align with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- 4-year Degree or a Master’s in computer science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field within Information Technology.
- Experience in developing and executing IT Cloud Strategies, including cloud migration, hybrid cloud management, and multi-cloud integration.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to provide visionary leadership and guide the organization through complex IT transformations.
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects concurrently and delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
- Analytical Thinking : Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex IT environments and develop strategic plans and recommendations.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Vendor Management : Experience in negotiating with and managing relationships with cloud service providers and other IT vendors.
- Change Management : Ability to promote and manage organizational change to ensure successful implementation of new processes and strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of IT governance models, cloud architecture, ITSM frameworks, and best practices in IT operations and service management.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, data privacy, data governance, and risk management practices.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and service management tools like Remedy, ServiceNow or Salesforce.
Assets
- Experience in IT governance, cloud strategy, and service management within the higher education sector.
- Certifications in IT Governance (e.g., COBIT, TOGAF), Cloud Computing, and Expert (V3) or Leader Level (V4) ITIL.
- PROSCI certification.
- CBAP certification.
- PMP certification.
