The position is for a 1.0 full-time primary care provider.
The physician will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide ongoing care management to patients, with a wide variety of illnesses, diseases, injuries, and functional disorders, commensurate with the professional services provided by a full scope General Practitioner.
The Physician will provide the Services via face to face appointments, telephone consultations and virtual care options where available and as appropriate based on the clinical circumstances.
The full scope of primary health care services including but not limited to the following :
- i) Health promotion and illness prevention services;
- ii) Primary care for minor or episodic illnesses;
iii) Management of chronic diseases
- iv) Management and co-ordination of patient care across the spectrum of primary, secondary and tertiary care (i.e. referral to specialists and other providers, case management, case conferences and acting upon consultative advice);
- v) Primary reproductive care;
- vi) Primary mental health and substance use (MHSU) services;
- vii) Support for Substance use;
- viii) Gender-affirming care;
- ix) Support for the terminally ill;
- x) Coordination and access to rehabilitation;
xi) Provide medical coordination and participate in multidisciplinary team planning for the ongoing health needs of patients.

Additional Information
As a Primary Care Network clinic, allied health providers are available including asocial worker, a pharmacist, mental health and substance use clinician, dietitian and a Health Authority registered nurse.
The clinic provides regular patient care, handling of minor emergencies, triage, and assessment if patient requires transfer to hospital.
Home visits are done for frail elderly patients. Island has service and Community Paramedic program collaboration likely required.
TeleHealth and Telus Med Access EMR is available via secure high-speed internet. Denman Island has a highly competent paramedic team and 24 / 7 ambulance service.
The Health Centre building is owned and managed by a non-profit society. It houses a modern, well-equipped turn-key family practice clinic and a home care and counseling organization.

Recruitment Incentive : up to a maximum of $10, (based on 1.0 FTE)
