Position Overview
BMO Capital Markets is seeking an Analyst with experience in real estate who will work with the BMO Real Estate Fund team in Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Conduct due diligence and review financial and operating information relating to real estate development and value-add investment acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of the BMO Real Estate Fund;
- Build and maintain investment models (i.e. DCF, residual value, development, waterfalls, etc.) using Argus and Excel;
- Conduct market analysis and research, utilizing external real estate data sources and brokerage reports;
- Review and summarize limited partnership agreements and other JV documents;
- Interface with BMO accounting, legal, and other internal stakeholder groups;
- Monitor the activity of the existing investment portfolio and conduct portfolio level analysis and forecasting;
- Prepare quarterly portfolio performance reports for presentation to the BMO Real Estate Fund Board members as well as members of the Investment Committee; and
- Produce marketing material and pitch books for potential co-investment partners
Education & Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a related field, preferably in real estate, commerce, finance, economics, math or engineering;
- Completion or current pursuit of a master's degree or professional designation (CFA, CPA, AACI) would be an asset;
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Argus Software;
- Knowledge of Canadian residential and / or industrial real estate markets would be an asset;
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Exceptional organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills;
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain attention to detail with multiple or competing deadlines;
- Work effectively in a team environment and independently as required; and
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
Work Experience
Minimum 1-3 years of work experience in one or more of the following areas : private equity, real estate development, acquisitions and / or asset management, real estateinvestment banking, and real estate brokerage

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.
Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
