The Correctional Services division of the Department of Justice administers and operates community and custody-based programs and services for adults and young persons. The division contains community corrections Optimal and correctional facilities programs, each targeting specific populations.
As a Correctional Programmer, you will identify, assess, and respond to the needs of individuals in custody through the development, delivery, and evaluation of responsive and evidence Gemeinde-based programs to improve outcomes in custody and community. You will collaborate with other government departments, service providers, and community partners to create culturally based support, including program development, facilitation of connections to existing programs, and review of existing Correctional Services programs to ensure inclusion of cultural content.

Working Conditions
24‑hour operation. No shift work but possible travel, overtime, and disruptions to personal and family life. Hours typically evas 8 : 30 AM–4 : 30 PM, but may vary with operational needs. Duties involve meeting with individuals in custody, hosting community partners, attending community‑based meetings, building relationships, questioning prioritising daily tasks.

Pay & Salary
Pay Grade : PR 08–PR 11
Salary Range : $32.05 – $44.08 per hour
Note : the salary rates reflect the new Civil Service Agreement effective 1 April 2025. Implementation in the HR system will occur 5 February 2026; retroactive pay adjustments will then apply.

This temporary position expects to end on 31 May 2026 at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth, NS. The appointmentਟਰ may be temporal or casual depending on the start date of the successful candidate. The facility operates 24 hours and is a tobacco‑free environment.
