ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our team as a Personal Support Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents by providing compassionate, people-centered care. Working closely with Registered Nurses and Practical Nurses, you will support residents’ physical, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual well-being every day. Be a vital part of our collaborative Interprofessional Team, contributing to personalized care plans that truly respect each resident’s unique needs and preferences all within a supportive long-term care environment.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Valid Personal Support Worker certificate and registration or the ability to become registered with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority; OR demonstrated enrollment in a nursing program

• Demonstrated experience and interest in working with senior populations, including providing end-of-life care

• Previous experience in a long-term care home preferred

Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice
• Demonstrated commitment to people-centered care
• Demonstrated ability to use computer applications including Word, Windows, email, and electronic health records or documentation systems

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Assets:

• Certification relevant to practice setting (i.e. Gerontology, Dementia, Palliative Care), including training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) and U-First is an asset
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is an asset
• Demonstrated familiarity with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations is an asset

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
