The Recreation Programmer is responsible for the development, promotion and delivery of the Summer Travelling Adventure Program. This drop-in program is designed to keep participants engaged and active at parks and playgrounds within Morinville. This role will also support the Events and Programs Coordinator during Town of Morinville events. The term of this position will be from May 11, 2026, to August 28, 2026, based upon operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Summer Travelling Adventure program for children aged 6-12.
- Assist the Events and Programs Coordinator with Town of Morinville events.
- Develop active, engaging programs that achieve meaningful recreation outcomes.
- Maintain accurate program budgets and reports.
- Conduct program evaluations and surveys to ensure programs are meeting the intended outcomes.
- Maintain all supplies and equipment required for programs and manage an inventory list.
- Promote programs effectively to engage the community and attract participants.
- Attend staff meetings and prepare weekly and end of term reports.
- Work collaboratively and provide mentorship to the Recreation Leader.
- Comply with Town policies and Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation, including hazard assessment, incident reporting, and required follow-up.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
Partial or complete post-secondary education in recreation, education or a related field.Prior experience in program coordination is an asset.Valid First Aid and CPR / AED Certificate is required.Valid Class 5 Alberta Operator’s License and access to a vehicle is required.Exceptional communication, interpersonal organizational, and leadership / supervisory skills.Previous experience working with children in a program setting an asset.High Five training is an asset.The successful candidate will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check and Drivers Abstract consent form.This position is partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs grant program and requires applicants to meet the following eligibility :

Salary Range
Compensation / Hours of Work : $21.00 -$24.00 per hour. Hours of work are based on a 35-hour work week.
