The Faculty of Nursing at Memorial University of Newfoundland, situated on the university campus, offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Nursing (four-year and accelerated options), a Master of Science in Nursing (practicum and nurse practitioner options), a Post Master’s Nurse Practitioner Graduate Diploma, and a PhD in Nursing.

Recently, the undergraduate program underwent revision, implementing a concept-based curriculum.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Administrative Officer, the Manager of Academic Programs is responsible for driving excellence in academic programs, student support services, and regulatory compliance.

As the main administrative contact point for the Faculty of Nursing undergraduate office, the Manager of Academic Programs collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure the successful delivery of the undergraduate programs, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Duties include providing operational leadership and strategic direction to the undergraduate office of the Faculty of Nursing, ensuring alignment with our goals and objectives;
  • managing the administrative, recruitment, admissions, and academic functions of undergraduate programs; overseeing the day-to-day operations of the undergraduate program(s) office, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement;
  • developing and maintaining robust support systems for students, including overseeing the credit transfer process, recommendations for faculty scholarships and awards, and facilitating academic and clinical career guidance and placement;
  • participating in program review and development activities, engaging with the joint curriculum committee to support curriculum enhancement, and academic rigor;
  • cultivating strong partnerships and collaborations across campus, liaising with various offices to ensure effective communication, coordination, and resolution of academic issues;

and performing other related duties as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Experience (5-7 years) of progressive experience in university administration, with a proven track record of success in developing and managing academic programs and partnerships;

completion of a master's degree in business administration or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and training, demonstrating a deep understanding of higher education administration.

  • Superior leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team toward shared goals and objectives;
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts effectively to diverse audiences;

strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically, adapt to changing circumstances, and make data-driven decisions are essential for this role.

  • The successful applicant is expected to possess a proven ability to work collaboratively in diverse cultural backgrounds within higher education settings, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment;
  • experience in project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;

SALARY $72,832 - $94,409 per annum (Management and Professional)
