Job Description
The Technical Safety Engineer will ensure that all changes are recognized, documented, formally reviewed, and approved prior to implementation to avoid potential safety or operational problems and to comply with federal and provincial regulations.
The Technical Safety Engineer will :
- Coordinate the change process and monitor the Management of Change (MOC) process from initiation to completion using the MOC tool in SAP
- Ensure that the MOC Process is effective and efficient
- Track the health of MOC Process using monthly metrics
Responsibilities
Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System.
Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and / or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
- Provide support to the Technical Safety team to ensure that processes and practices are in place and completed to minimize Process Safety Events
- Drive MOC / TDN process for smooth progression from initiation to close-out
- Assign appropriate tasks and track to ensure master equipment list in SAP and all affected documents are updated as equipment is changed
- Ensure changes comply with MOC standards and procedures
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the MOC process
- Work closely with Facilities Engineers (Calgary & field), Operations, Project Engineers, Maintenance Leads, Mechanical, Instrumentation & Electrical Planning, C&SU and Construction on the MOC process for projects as a result of a change request
- Provide training and support for the MOC / TDN process
- Provide training and support in utilizing SAP to complete MOCs
- Facilitate and participate in biweekly MOC meetings
- Maintain and report MOC key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Develop and maintain Technical Safety Dashboards and reports using PowerBI
- Follow-up with project managers on MOCs awaiting close out activities
- Track temporary MOCs monthly and obtain variance when original timeline is exceeded
- Participate in corporate / BU audits and assist with clearing non-conformances
- Maintain Technical Safety SharePoint page
- Assist Technical Safety Engineers and other staff in Intelex action update and investigations for Technical Safety items
Qualifications
Basic / Required Qualifications
- 3 years Operations and / or Facility experience
- 3 years' experience with SAP
- Technical diploma or engineering degree
- Previous experience with MOC coordination would be an asset
- Previous experience with Process Safety would be an asset
