Senior Data Architect

Upstaff is seeking a seasoned Senior Data Architect to lead data architecture planning implementation and operational support for several high-impact digital transformation projects within the Digital Design and Delivery Division (DDD) . This role is embedded within the Platforms branch focused on enterprise platforms related to identity payments and e-commerce. The Architect will play a critical role in ensuring GoA services are secure efficient and citizen-centered using modern Agile and human-centered design principles.

Tasks

• Lead the design planning and implementation of enterprise data architecture across 23 concurrent platform projects.
• Develop comprehensive data models strategies and architecture roadmaps tailored for large-scale government systems.
• Provision and manage databases using technologies such as MS SQL Server Azure SQL Cosmos DB and PostgreSQL .
• Optimize database performance ensuring reliability security scalability and high availability.
• Analyze data usage patterns and perform risk assessments to inform strategic improvements and user experience enhancements.
• Collaborate closely with product owners technical leads developers and UX teams to align data strategy with user and business needs.
• Coach and mentor internal teams on best practices in data architecture and data governance.
• Contribute to enterprise architecture standards policies and frameworks across GoA initiatives.

Requirements

Benefits

Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture software architecture or senior data engineering.

Proven experience in planning designing and implementing enterprise data solutions .

At least 2 years working on the same enterprise project ideally valued over $5M.

Strong experience with cloud services enterprise architecture principles and Microsoft technology stack.

Demonstrated expertise in database administration including performance tuning and maintenance.

College or Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience with AI-driven data architecture data analytics and unstructured data modeling.

Prior involvement in modernizing legacy systems into digital services.

Familiarity with UX service design or multidisciplinary Agile teams.

Experience working in public sector / government environments.
