On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a Manager, Commercial & Real Estate Lending to join their team of dedicated professionals in Halifax, Nova Scotia or Moncton, New Brunswick.

This is a leadership role within the commercial real estate financing team. As the Manager, Commercial & Real Estate Lending, you will lead a dynamic group of Commercial Relationship Managers and Commercial Analysts.

The jobholder will work closely with the Director, Commercial & Lending Services, and will provide a significant contribution to the management and growth of their commercial mortgage / construction loan portfolios, providing support, advice, and guidance to clients and referral sources while playing a key role in the development of Commercial Lending team.

Key Requirements and Responsibilities :

Leadership

Origination

  • A key requirement will be experience in originating commercial real estate and construction loans.
  • Ideally the jobholder will have an established referral network in Atlantic Canada but should be able to demonstrate experience in developing and maintaining one.

CMHC Experience

  • The team is active in the origination and servicing of CMHC insured multi residential housing loans, including the acquisition of loan portfolios for securitization.
  • The jobholder will be expected to have, or quickly develop, a full understanding of CMHC criteria pertaining to the insurance of multi residential real estate financing.

Portfolio Management

In conjunction with the Director, Commercial & Lending Services, the jobholder will manage the commercial real estate loan portfolio which will include ensuring loans are an acceptable risk and within guidelines and policy, completing annual reviews, managing and delinquency and recovery activities.

Credit Adjudication

  • The role will require the ability to adjudicate on commercial real estate loan and construction loan applications. Credit experience is therefore considered an asset.
  • As an experienced commercial real estate lender, the Manager, Commercial & Real Estate Lending will have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in finance or a related discipline plus have ten years commercial real estate lending / underwriting experience;

or equivalent combination of training and experience. You will be an experienced people leader with a passion for delivering exceptional service to clients and your referral network to assist in the growth of the lending portfolios.

You will bring a keen sense of organization, planning and prioritization, and will have an eye for detail, and an analytical mind.

Knowledge of CMHC criteria and processes in relation to multi residential lending would be considered a valuable asset.
