Vertex is seeking a dynamic Field / Plant Operators and Instrumentation Technician to join our team as Senior LDAR Technicians.

As a Senior LDAR Technician (Field / Plant Operators and Instrumentation Technician), you’ll play a crucial role in our field mission management team, ensuring compliance through Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) surveys across Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Leveraging your expertise in oil and gas operations troubleshoot Leaks and excessive venting issues with recommendations for repair.
This role involves working on a rotational schedule of 15 days on, 6 days off, with 12-hour shifts, in varying environments across western Canada.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Essential : Trade or Certificate in Instrumentation, Power Engineering Certificate, or a related construction trade.
- Preferred Experience : Experience in leak detection, oil and gas processing, or petrochemical facilities.
- Regulatory Knowledge : Familiarity with AER Directive 060, MOE PNG036, and BC DPR Emission Regulations.
- Physical Requirements : Ability to work in diverse weather conditions, navigate work sites, and handle climbs on ladders and stairs.
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant computer applications.
- Soft Skills : Strong work ethic, self-motivation, teamwork, decision-making, integrity, and confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leak Detection Surveys : Utilize OGI cameras and quantitative equipment to perform onsite LDAR surveys, pinpointing emissions from equipment and piping systems.
- Compliance Testing : Conduct testing and reporting of Compressor Seal Vents (CSV) to ensure adherence to regulations.
- Equipment Inventory : Track pneumatic instruments, pumps, compressors, dehydrators, and storage tanks.
- SOPs Development : Assist in creating and refining VPS Emissions SOPs and Leak Repair Programs.
- Leak Repairs : Perform safe repairs on identified leaks, following Vertex and regulatory standards.
- Data Management : Oversee emissions survey results, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Project Execution : Complete LDAR projects within deadlines, ensuring thorough monitoring and reporting.
- Communication : Provide daily reports, and maintain clear communication with site personnel, project managers, and clients.
- Safety Awareness : Address safety hazards and use appropriate safety equipment.
- Training and Mentorship : Train and mentor junior team members to uphold Vertex standards.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate records and perform necessary administrative tasks.
- Collaboration : Work with field personnel, client representatives, and management to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
- Continuous Improvement : Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to enhance customer service.
LOCATION
- This role can be based in Calgary, Sherwood Park, Lloydminster, or Grande Prairie, Alberta.
