We are currently seeking an Accountant to add to our team in Vaughan, ON on hybrid work model (on-site Tues / Wed). Reporting directly to the Manager, Accounting, you will bring strong accounting and analysis experience to this team and will be a critical part of our month-end / year-end closing activities.
You will partner closely with other departments and service organizations to contribute to the success of the company.
Accountabilities
Input and process rebates. Work in partnership with Pricing team to ensure accuracy in the ERP system.
Complete a monthly reconciliation and ensure rebates are claimed within the defined time periods.
Prepare and post monthly journal entries and perform month-end close activities.
Prepare, review and post various monthly accruals.
Maintain accounting system such as account set up and month / quarter / year-end period closing etc.
Prepare, review, and reconcile various balance sheet accounts, identifying risk and potential write-offs or release to the P&L.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for US head office (e.g. SEC reporting).
Support internal and external audits.
Administer daily back-up Treasury functions including setting up wires, cash reporting and forecasting.
Administer backup for Tax Consultant in matters related to commodity & realty taxes, insurance, and Statistics Canada filings.
Problem solving and issue escalation as needed.
Assist with special projects and periodic business requests and all other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree and post-graduate diploma in accounting required.
CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) enrollment & 2 to 4 years in accounting.
Knowledge of JD Edwards, SAP, Concur and Blackline is an asset.
Strong accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to clearly identify issues and bring them to a resolution.
Self-starter with a process improvement mindset in the work performed.
Experience in Medical Segment, distribution organization and / or large multinational organization is an asset.
Intermediate Excel skills with ability to work through significant volumes of data.
Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to partner successfully with third party organizations, finance, and other departments.
