Role Overview

Reporting to the IT Coordinator, the IT Technician is an integral part of the IT team supporting Gibraltar Mine’s 400 users. Responsibilities range from hands-on to remote desktop support, as well as application support and on-site physical installations of technology.

Core Responsibilities

Please note this position requires the successful incumbent to relocate to Williams Lake, BC, or the surrounding area. This is not a permanent remote working position.

• Provide customer-focused support with security as a primary concern at all times.
• Responding to help desk requests in a timely manner, recognize and elevate complex issues.
• Assist with implementing and enforcing IT Policy.
• Install, configure, and support site hardware and systems; Windows client workstations and laptops; printers, plotters and copiers.
• Configure and support IP phones and mobile devices.
• Installation, configuration and updating of client operating systems and software.
• Installation, troubleshooting and testing of ethernet and wireless networks.
• Maintain onsite IT stock and arrange disposal and recycling of used / failed hardware and supplies.
• Configure and maintain remote access and underlying security provisions.
• Maintain communications systems (VOIP systems, mobile phones).
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Installing software updates and patches.
• Support Enterprise Asset Management Software.
• Provide technical support and training to users.

Education & Experience

• 2+ years’ experience in the IT Field.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems or equivalent certifications.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential; must have the ability to communicate effectively with users of varying degrees of computer knowledge.
• Must have the ability to work well under pressure and be able to work alone with minimal supervision.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications including Windows 10 / 11 and Office 365.
• Valid driver’s license.
