Community Economic Development Officer

Manpower is looking for an experienced and excited professional that would play an important role on the community s transformation and development, supporting the growth and advancement of Michipicoten First Nation in Wawa, Ontario.

What is the job?
- Implementation of the community economic development initiatives aimed at building long term capacity and fostering the integration of the Nation s economic, social and environmental objectives
- Planning, developing and implementing economic opportunities in collaboration with Michipicoten s economic development corporation, government, private industry, municipalities, and First Nation partners
- Maintaining a sound administrative and organizational system
- Developing budgets and cash flow projections
- Working with governments, funding agencies, local industry, and local businesses to develop and implement initiatives to enhance community and economic growth
What do you bring?
- Degree in community development, business, commerce, economics, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with First Nations; Knowledge of Indigenous Rights, history, culture, and current socioeconomic issues
- Minimum of five years experience in community or economic development
- Three years experience in a management or supervisory role
- Experience in venture development
- PMP Certification an asset
