The Opportunity : Reporting to the Vice President Finance and Corporate Services, develops and implements best practices and people strategies and services which contribute to the goals and strategic business plans of the College.
Responsible for compliance of all federal and provincial employment legislation, interpretation and application of the Collective Agreements for Academic and Support Staff employees;
and the Terms & Conditions of Employment for Administrative Staff. Directs the implementation and administration of executive directives with respect to people practice and policy for all College staff.
Provides advice and counsel to all levels of management with respect to these responsibilities. Acts as the primary point person responsible for building sound labour relation practices and building relationships with a variety of internal and external labour relations stakeholders.
Directs the operations of Human Resources and Compensation.
What you need to be successful :
- Masters degree in Business with a focus in Human Resources Management designation required
- Minimum ten years’ experience in a Human Resources leadership role
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word, Etc.)
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Comprehensive and current knowledge of Human Resource management principles and practices, and ability to apply this knowledge to respond to complex problems and develop creative, effective, and strategic solutions
- Demonstrated ability to direct on, apply and interpret a range of legislation, policies, and collective agreements
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders such as employees, unions, and external contacts
- Strong labour relation skills
- Knowledge of relevant case laws jurisprudence
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Ability to work independently, establish appropriate priorities, and multi-task
