Intermediate Civil Engineering Field Technologist – 2024042612

Thurber has an exciting opportunity for an intermediate Field Technologist  to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta .

Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment and construction materials. We solve problems in a wide variety of industries including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, dams and water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine and environmental services.

As our Technologist, you will work on varied projects and develop your skills with guidance and mentorship from our senior team.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction inspection and quality control / assurance testing for various infrastructure and transportation projects;
• Conduct field compaction testing of soils;
• Carry out construction inspection for various projects;
• Carry out field concrete testing as per CCIL / CSA requirements;
• Conduct pile construction monitoring for driven steel and cast-in-place concrete piles;
• Laboratory testing of field materials;
• Ensure all work conforms to CCIL, ASTM and other company and industry standards;
• Effectively communicate results and observations to clients, contractors and project engineers verbally and in written formats;
• Liaise with project engineers and client’s site representatives; and,
• Travelling to local and remote construction sites.
