IT Service Desk - Summer Student

The IT Service Desk Summer Student will provide general support and administration to the Service team pertaining to : desktop hardware and software resources (stand alone and networked), including installation, configuration, security and optimizations of computer operating software, business applications, MS Office, software, network drivers, etc, for network connectivity, and maintain detailed records.

The role will support problem resolution of computer hardware, software and network connectivity problems by responding to client calls, making preliminary assessments of the problems and taking corrective action. The role is expected to participate in special assignments or projects pertaining to client / desktop hardware or software.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Post Secondary education program in Computer Engineering Technician or Technologist or other related discipline and returning to full-time studies in Sept 2026
• Requires demonstrated skills and experience with problem diagnosis, repair and upgrading of computer hardware at the component level and installation, configuration and optimization of desktop software in a Windows environment.
• Able to perform the duties of the position with minimal guidance and supervision
• Must be self-motivated and possess effective customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent safety record and attitude
• Able and available to work 8-hr shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime (where required) from May 1 to Labour Day
• Possess a valid Ontario G Class license in good standing and reliable vehicle to travel to various sites within the City

Hourly Wage

$17.60 per hour
