Dawson Group is looking for a Business Technology Analyst who will analyze, design, develop and maintain information systems, ensuring they meet our business requirements and improve operational efficiency.In this role you will be a valued member of the Dawson Group , working in a permanent, full-time position of Business Technology Analyst , reporting to the Director of Information Technology . The role will provide the successful applicant with an in-depth understanding of road maintenance, experience upgrading, administering and integrating maintenance and financial systems, opportunities building business intelligence solutions, and hands-on app and automation development. Your base location will be Kamloops, B.C. ; however, the Dawson Group embraces distributed work , meaning the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home and / or at our office. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Working closely with Dawson Road Maintenance stakeholders, gain an understanding of existing road maintenance business processes and systems, then identify opportunities to improve them through technology solutions
- Support the delivery of IT’s strategic plan, moving DRM to an increasingly simplified business systems environment for all workers – from data capture in the field, to management reporting and billing in the office
- Assist with the implementation of an incoming maintenance management system, upgrading Dawson Road Maintenance systems onto a new platform that will standardize and streamline work processes for the next 5-10 years
- Assist with the implementation of a financial system / Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, upgrading Dawson Group from legacy accounting software to a modern, integrated solution
- Assist with the development of digital software solutions and automation scripts using low-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform
- Support and develop business system integrations, including ERP, management software and vehicle telematics
- Administer, sustain and enhance existing business systems to respond to bug reports, updates or evolving user needs
- Provide deskside support for Dawson Road Maintenance staff, pertaining to their business systems
- Provide quality assurance to ensure that developed software and systems integrations are behaving as intended
- Apply problem-solving skills and tools to diagnose and solve business challenges with technology
- Prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job WHAT YOU BRING
- Undergraduate degree in Computing Science or related discipline (recent graduate preferred)
- 2-4 years of software and / or systems development experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with (or a strong aptitude to learn) maintenance management or accounting software platforms
- Experience with Python, Javascript or related scripting / development languages
- Keen technical knowledge and aptitude, with a strong ability to pick things up quickly
- Knowledge working with databases and building reports / dashboards using a Business Intelligence platform (such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.) would be a strong asset
- Experience with software development technologies such as Flutter or React Native
- Continuous improvement and innovation mindset – a desire to understand systems, then leverage technology and tools to find new / better ways of doing things
