Purpose
As part of the Worley Graduate Community and under the guidance of experienced mechanical engineers, the Graduate Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) supports the delivery of safe, high-quality mechanical engineering services to Worley and its customers. This role provides structured mentorship, hands-on project exposure, and a strong technical foundation to support professional development toward registration as a Professional Engineer (.
The Graduate Mechanical EIT will gain exposure to a broad range of mechanical engineering activities across industrial, energy, and resource sectors, building core technical skills while developing professional engineering competencies in a collaborative, project-based environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
You will support the mechanical engineering team by assisting with :
Equipment data sheets and specifications
Mechanical calculations and sizing (., pressure vessels, piping components, basic rotating equipment selections)
Technical reports and design documentation
Supporting the development of mechanical designs under supervision, including layouts, equipment arrangements, and design packages.
Assisting with engineering studies, technical evaluations, and design reviews.
Participating in interdisciplinary design coordination with piping, process, electrical, instrumentation, structural, and project controls teams.
Supporting procurement activities by assisting with technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, and technical clarifications.
Supporting construction and commissioning activities by assisting with field queries, site support, and engineering close-out documentation.
Identifying technical issues, proposing preliminary solutions, and escalating items appropriately to senior engineers.
Maintaining strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements and contributing to Worley’s safety culture.
Participating in Worley’s graduate development program, including technical training, mentorship, and professional development activities.
What You Will Bring
Technical & Industry Experience
Co-op, internship, or vacation student experience in an engineering, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment is considered an asset.
Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including :
Thermodynamics
Fluid mechanics
Heat transfer
Strength of materials and basic machine design
Developing familiarity with mechanical engineering tools and software (., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, ANSYS, or similar).
Basic proficiency with common productivity tools (., MS Office Suite).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn in a project-driven consulting environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Education, Qualifications & Training
Required :
A recognized and relevant Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) that is eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and progression toward Professional Engineer ( status.
Preferred :
Eligibility or intent to register with the applicable provincial engineering association (., APEGA, EGBC, PEO).
