Job Title : Financial Controller - Barrie

Industry : Heavy Civil Construction & Materials

About the Role

Full-time Financial Controller overseeing all accounting and finance functions for a local civil and materials contractor with 3 different operations
Works closely with the VP and President in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
Mix of day-to-day accounting, financial leadership, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the accounting / finance team.

Oversee a small team of finance professionals.

Prepare monthly interim financial statements.

Develop annual budgets and perform regular variance analysis.

Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and KPIs; highlight risks and opportunities.

Implement and maintain strong internal controls.

Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany accounts, HST, and other government remittances.

Prepare year-end working papers for external accountants.

Recommend improvements to financial processes and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

CPA designation required.

2-3 years of experience in related industries would be an asset (construction preferred)

Strong computer skills; experience with Jonas and QuickBooks is an asset.

Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).

What We Offer

Competitive salary with performance-based bonus potential.

$90,000 - $130,000
