Our Oil & Gas client is seeking an Intermediate Network Administrator for day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and support of a complex Cisco network infrastructure environment.
This is an initial contract to the end of year with a possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be living in Calgary and agreeable to a hybrid working model of 3 days in office / week.
There will also be a request for on-call support and after-hours incident response support.
Must-Haves :
- 3-5 years of experience in network administration / network operations
- At least 2 recent projects supporting enterprise Cisco environments, administering and troubleshooting common enterprise network services and security solutions
- In-depth knowledge of network hardware, protocols , and technologies (e.g. LAN, WAN, switching, routing)
- Experience with network monitoring, automation, and scripting tools (e.g. Wireshark, Python)
Nice-to-Haves :
- Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP)
- Knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry
Responsibilities Overview :
- Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and event logs to identify potential problems
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, security patching, and backups on network devices
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software-related issues on routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment
- Implement and test network failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans
- Document network configurations, change management processes, and operational procedures
- Analyze network metrics and trends to identify optimization opportunities and make recommendations
- Work closely with the IT operations team to ensure the availability, security, and performance of critical network systems and services
- Proactively identify and resolve network-related issues to minimize disruptions and maintain service level agreements
