MatchBox Consulting Group is currently searching for a Safety & Training Manager for a subsidiary of one of the most well know organizations in the Lower Mainland.

Responsibilities :

  • Promotes Safety as a core value at all times. Communicates and positively promotes the Company vision, values and culture.
  • Accountable for the Safety performance. Maintain and distribute safety data to the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees and ensure corrective actions are followed up on.
  • Manages all aspects of curriculum design, training implementation, and documentation for new employees. Oversees trainees to pass / fail training
  • Manage WSBC claims process and return-to-work program. Develops training programs that meet the specific needs of employees that are returning to work, or require remedial or refresher training.

Provides appropriate training and assesses individual’s performance

  • Conduct incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety inspections as required. Identify areas of concern and make recommendations on safety issues
  • Monitor and maintain previously developed tools, workflows, and applications using standard review protocols, automated ticketing requests, and other sustainable best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and enhancements to existing tools and effectively make recommendations for improvement to the team and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership for the department. This includes coaching and mentoring employees and managers to ensure all safety expectations are understood and met. Requirements :
  • Post-secondary certificate in Occupational Health and / or Safety and 5-7 years of related experience
  • Class 5 driver’s license required.
  • A safety related professional designation (CRSP etc) is an asset.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of the Workers’ Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC OH&S Regulations
  • Proficient in incident investigation techniques, WorkSafeBC claims management, OH&S Program management and occupational hygiene.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice and support to managers, supervisors, employees and Occupational Health & Safety committee representatives and
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing safety initiatives and delivering safety training to diverse work groups is required.
