Our client in Durham Region, ON is looking for a Bilingual Collections Specialist to join their team.

In this role the candidate will be responsible for collecting on their assigned portfolio of delinquent accounts. They will need to maintain good customer relations with borrowers and effectively solves problems in an effort to resolve account delinquency and mitigate losses.

Responsibilities :

  • Demonstrate good customer service skills while adhering to company policies and procedures
  • Negotiate account resolution and accurately input and document actions within the collection systems while maintaining company performance and productivity standards
  • Maintain up-to-date customer contact information in the system
  • Make routine telephone calls, send email or text messages to delinquent customers
  • Secure a payment commitment of past due or outstanding balance and negotiate with the customer to obtain total amount due
  • Work closely with the Legal Credit & Recovery Specialist to ensure timely recovery of repossessions
  • Assist with assignment to bailiff and coordination of repossessions
  • Work with dealers and bailiffs in order to ensure units are recovered and secured
  • Communicate with dealers to assist with collections, repossession, and storage.
  • Review daily report and maintain adequate and comprehensive notes in support of actions taken to secure units
  • Ensure there is regular follow up on collections files and that all collection activities are done in a timely manner.

Requirements :

  • University degree or College diploma
  • Bilingualism (English / French) is required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Windows environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a winning customer service attitude, professional demeanor and phone etiquette
  • Politely assertive, thrives on negotiation and customer interaction
  • Advanced judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and analytical skills
  • Detailed oriented and troubleshoot account issues
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and resolve problems independently
  • General understanding of captive finance industry is an asset
