Job description

The mission of the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences is to produce godly Christians with expertise in the theoretical and applied sciences. The Faculty offers a number of Bachelor of Science degrees as well as honours degrees, a joint major with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and a major in general studies with concentrations in specific disciplines. Additionally, a minor is offered in information systems as well as in each discipline where a major or concentration is offered. Natural sciences students may also complete the requirements of many pre-professional programs such as agriculture, architecture, dentistry, engineering, forestry, medicine, and pharmacy. The Department of Biology in Trinity Western University’s Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences invites applications for a temporary full-time sessional teaching position beginning August 16, 2023. The ideal candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Biology or Ecology with specialization in Animal Physiology or Zoology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in our undergraduate program as well as contribute to a viable research program. Duties include teaching Ecology and other courses and labs for the Department of Biology. The candidate should be capable of teaching General Ecology (200 level), Vertebrate Physiology (300 level), Zoology (300 level), supervise Environmental Sciences Internships (300 level) and senior thesis courses in a personal specialty. Subject to personnel and budget considerations, there is a possibility of future openings, so the department prefers applications from those capable of conversion to a tenure-track position. More information about Trinity Western’s Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences can be found here.

  • a cover letter;
  • a curriculum vitae;
  • verification of doctoral (or terminal) degree;
  • signed Statement of Faith and Community Covenant; and
  • a document (no more than two pages) which describes how you anticipate your Christian faith would influence your teaching and scholarship if you were a faculty member at TWU.

Please complete the online application available here; only complete applications will be considered. Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found.

Trinity Western University encourages applications from all eligible candidates who are able to commit to the university’s mission, values, and Christian identity as articulated in its Statement of Faith and Community Covenant. Persons with disabilities who anticipate needing accommodations during the application process should contact Isabel Lopez (Isabel.Lopez@twu.ca) in the Human Resources Department.
