This role is an opportunity for you to join Canada's Global Law Firm, a firm that offers opportunities to build your career while growing your skills and deepening your expertise.

Position Summary

Dentons Canada is undergoing significant growth and is seeking a Client Development & Events Coordinator to join the Calgary office. This role supports marketing, events, and broader business development activities, contributing to firm growth, client engagement, and profile-raising initiatives at both the local and national levels.

With a strong interest in marketing, events, and client development, the Coordinator will support multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. A key focus of this role is the planning and execution of high-quality client-facing, internal, and virtual events. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a collaborative team shaping the future of Dentons Canada.

Responsibilities

Event Management & Execution

Lead intake of event requests, clarifying objectives, success criteria, and alignment with business development strategy.

Coordinate end-to-end event logistics for client-facing, internal, and virtual events, including attendee lists, invitations, venues, catering, audiovisual requirements, and on-site logistics.

Research and recommend venue options and conduct site visits as required.

Prepare event materials including agendas, signage, name badges, promotional items, and branded assets.

Attend Calgary-based events and provide day-of-event support, including setup, problem-solving, and teardown.

Maintain detailed event trackers, schedules, and checklists to ensure smooth and consistent event delivery.

Manage the administration, allocation, and distribution of tickets for firm-hosted premium sporting and entertainment experiences, ensuring accurate tracking, stakeholder coordination, and timely delivery.

Stakeholder, Vendor & Contract Management

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, venues, and third-party suppliers to ensure seamless execution of events and initiatives.

Review contracts and identify concerns, risks, or irregularities for escalation.

Liaise with cross-functional teams including Brand, Web, Events, Marketing Communications, CRM, Digital, and other business services groups.

Marketing, Profile & Client Development Support

Support the execution of local and national client development and business development plans and strategies.

Draft, edit, coordinate, and maintain a wide range of client-facing and internal marketing content, including business development collateral, lawyer biographies, award and directory submissions, web and social content, event and webinar materials, and print and digital assets.

Ensure accuracy, consistency, strategic alignment, and timely delivery of marketing materials across teams.

Support the implementation of key initiatives by coordinating deliverables and timelines with internal stakeholders.

Other duties as assigned.

Reporting, Administration & Continuous Improvement

Maintain organized records including invoices, receipts, expenses, budgets, and supporting documentation.

Track event metrics, develop surveys, gather feedback, and support post-event debriefs to assess effectiveness and ROI.

Manage changing priorities and competing deadlines with professionalism, sound judgment, and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, events, or business development; experience in a professional services environment is preferred.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and results-driven team player able to collaborate with local and national, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-profile initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure with tight deadlines and competing deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with external contacts and individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly professional, client-focused approach with strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of decisions on public image, internal operations, and corporate objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, event management platforms, CRM systems, Adobe Acrobat, and Canva; experience with InterAction or similar CRM tools is an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to privacy, ethics, and professional integrity.
