About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Development, and working in collaboration with the Primary Health Care Leadership Team, the Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning participates in the development of Clinical Excellence by providing leadership in the areas of policy development, planning and accountability, provincial standards, best and promising practices, and more broadly, evidence-based decision making.

The Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning provides strategic analysis and advice on issues impacting the clinical service area and / or population across the lifespan.

The Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning advises and leads the advancement of defined priority areas according to the Network’s goals and objectives and the identified strategic directions of Nova Scotia Health.

This involves building new and fostering existing partnerships that support the achievement of priorities.

The Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning will also lead integrated provincial planning for the Network and design strategic and operational models of care that support excellence in care delivery, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care established by Nova Scotia Health, the Department of Health and Wellness and other relevant bodies.

The Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning also brings a strong background in quality improvement to facilitate the development of a quality program for the Network(s) and supports continuous improvement to advance a vision of excellence within the Clinical Network.

This position will support the Primary Health Care and Chronic Disease Management Network and will work across networks as appropriate.

Role can be flexible within the province, and hybrid (working from home & office)

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Master’s Degree in health related discipline
  • 5-7 years of relevant leadership experience with progressive accountabilities for standards, guidelines and / or policy development, evaluation, and implementation, advising on healthy public policy, and adoption of best practices to deliver high quality services
  • Registration with relevant health or professional discipline / college or association
  • Certified Health Executive designation is an asset
  • Experience in primary health care and chronic disease management in community based settings
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and decision skills
  • Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning.

Strong skills in critical thinking and analytical problem solving is required.

  • Skills in strategic planning and systems thinking.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders. Collaboration, negotiation and persuasion skills are paramount as this role requires the engagement of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expertise in financial planning and return on investment is an asset.
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues.
  • Understands the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams.
  • Expertise in leading complex change.
  • Quality improvement methodologies.
  • Cultural competence.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.

Compensation and Incentives

$42.93 - $53.67 Hourly
