Overview

Professional Engineer Structural Steel and Concrete — Location : Trail, British Columbia. Closing Date : February 20, 2026.

I / O Design & Engineering is seeking a collaborative, team-oriented professional engineer with experience in steel and concrete to work in our Trail, BC office. The position will focus on engineering analysis, calculation packages, and drawing checks and reviews of structural steel and concrete. Professional registration, or immediate eligibility for registration, with EGBC is mandatory as you will be required to apply your seal to designs and reports.

What You Will Do

As a professional engineer you will collaborate with other engineers, technical colleagues and clients to develop engineered designs from concepts to detailed drawings. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Sealing designs and reports as a professional engineer
  • Conducting field work in large and complex industrial facilities
  • Assisting in the development of engineering scopes, costs, and schedules
  • Understanding client requirements, critically analyzing situations and collaborating with others to quantify design concepts through detailed engineering analysis
  • Working with designers and detailers to review detailed fabrication drawings
  • Maintaining accurate project records across several software platforms
  • Ensuring projects adhere to company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Contributing to a positive culture of safety focused on prevention

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5 experience as a registered professional engineer
  • Professional Engineering designation that can be transferred to Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) within 3 months of employment
  • Strong understanding of technical engineering analysis with a focus on structural steel or concrete for heavy industry
  • Detailed oriented approach to drawing checks and reviews to address fabrication and constructability
  • Commitment to growth and change through demonstrated ability to accept feedback and learn the processes that contribute to I / O Design & Engineering’s success
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compose correspondence and other written materials independently
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with Microsoft products and CAD software
  • A very high level of organizational skill with the ability to engage with multiple projects simultaneously
  • A strong work ethic and team spirit with the flexibility to work in a small company and accept a wide range of responsibilities and roles
