Scrum Master I

Preference will be given to candidates who reside within a commutable distance of Avetta’s Calgary, Alberta office, located at 255 5th Ave SW, Suite 1400, Calgary, AB T2P 3G6. This role requires a hybrid work schedule consisting of three in‑office days and two work‑from‑home days each week.

As a Scrum Master I , you will play a key role in enabling a single Scrum team to deliver on strategic initiatives by implementing Agile practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will be the servant leader and facilitator, guiding the team through Agile ceremonies, removing impediments, and ensuring the team operates efficiently and collaboratively. Your focus will be on driving value delivery while encouraging an environment where the team can thrive.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, Product Managers, Product Owners, and Engineers to ensure the team’s strategic initiatives are planned, developed, and delivered on time, aligning with intended value.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies (Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Retrospective) to drive team-level continuous improvement and value delivery.
• Guide the team to identify and address dependencies and risks during Big Room Planning (PI Planning), helping the team align on quarterly OKRs, scope, and capacity.

Support the Product Owner by : Assisting in product discovery and using Agile prioritization techniques to manage the team’s backlog.

Coaching the teams on backlog refinement and estimation practices, ensuring concise, actionable stories (e.g. vertical slicing)
