Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX : As the Polymer and Chemistry Expert Advanced Concepts (AC), you work cross-functionally to develop, test, validate and implement novel technologies to improve the performance and environmental impact of Arc’teryx products for the mountain athlete.

You are equal parts subject-matter expert and hands-on user, and you understanding and enthusiasm for the outdoors to drive industry-leading solutions to material problems big and small.

You lead and support on topics ranging from renewable raw material ingredients processing, such as fiber-spinning, molding, foaming, printing and extrusion, to green chemistry solutions for textile finishing, adhesives and surface functionalization.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Meet Your Future Team : The Advanced Concepts team drives breakthrough innovation in snow, trail and climb for the mountain athlete everywhere.

If you were in the Polymer and Chemistry Expert Advanced Concepts role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing :

  • Researching new and novel innovations in textile finishes, adhesives, coloration, next-gen polymers, processing, molding, surface functionalization, green chemistry, and related areas of interest in order to select and initiate partnerships and developments
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to continually improve material performance from a durability, comfort, quality, environmental, and social impact perspective via ingredients, additives, and / or treatments
  • Communicating, educating, and presenting information to a wide range of key partners
  • Managing, leading, and commercializing multiple short, mid, and long-term projects, while providing clear documentation of progress, updates, outcomes, and resource-utilization
  • Support in creating definitions and guidelines for brand-wide use of certain raw material ingredients, chemistries, and auxiliaries
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) : troubleshooting and problem-solving when issues arise within the material toolbox
  • Fostering and growing relationships within industry and academia, supporting funding applications and creation of intellectual property and / or proprietary branded technologies

  • Building in-house and external testing, prototyping, and analysis capabilities
  • Establishing a long-term chemicals, adhesives, and polymer ingredients strategy
  • Creating new methods to test and validate functional benefits in collaboration with Research & Engineering
  • Collaborating with Brand teams to communicate innovations to guests and representatives

Are you our next Polymer and Chemistry Expert Advanced Concepts?

  • You have a degree in chemistry, polymer science, polymer chemistry, textile engineering, environmental science / chemical management, materials science or similar field
  • You have 3+ years of consumer-goods, textile-industry, or commercially sponsored Research and Development (R&D) experience
  • You have a strong foundation of knowledge around polymer science, chemistry, processing and manufacturing, adhesives, and / or textile dyeing, finishing
  • You have experience working with multiple levels of a typical polymer or industrial chemical supply chain
  • You have experience working with different sized entities and partners, including large industrial chemical companies, specialty compounders, processors, academia, start-ups, etc.
  • You have experience in technology scouting, TEA and due diligence
  • You have a high level of self-drive, creativity, commercial acumen, and foundational technical knowledge
  • You are a problem-solver and inherently curious
  • You are able to explain complex concepts to both scientists and non-scientists
  • You are an effective and empathetic communicator
  • You are detail-oriented and follow-through on commitments to do what is right, and you strive for continuous improvement
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
  • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it

$91,000 - $120,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$91,000 - CAD$120,000 at the time of this posting.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and / or training.

Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
