A leading building material supply distributor is seeking an experienced Controller to be the financial leader of the organization. You will play a key role in driving accuracy, insight, and efficiency across the business, while aligning accounting with operational performance.

Primary Accountabilities

• Maintain complete ownership of the trial balance, ensuring precision, reconciliation and integrity across all accounts
• Provide leadership and daily guidance to the Finance Department
• Ensure all accounting transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner, adhering to GAAP standards
• Prepare month-end journal entries and accruals
• Execute month-end accounting tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts
• Review the daily cash position
• Oversight of payables department including payroll processing
• Assist in analyzing and evaluating operating expenses
• Support year-end closing activities
• Act as a back-up for accounting staff as needed
• Resolve complex accounting issues using generally accepted accounting principles
• Demonstrate proficiency with accounting software and systems
• Consistently meets deadlines
• Interpret and analyze large volumes of financial data
• Effectively manage multiple priorities and tasks
• Perform other duties as required by the business
