Purchaser
The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and maintaining adequate inventory levels of food products and related stock items to support forecasted sales. This role ensures products are purchased at competitive prices, meet quality standards, and are delivered on time to support customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase food products and related supplies according to sales forecasts and inventory requirements
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors
- Request and compare pricing, availability, and product specifications
- Place purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure timely receipt
- Monitor inventory levels to minimize shortages, overstock, and waste
- Ensure products meet company quality, safety, and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- Collaborate with warehouse, sales, and operations teams to align purchasing with demand
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in supply chain or business preferredPrevious purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in food distribution or a related industryKnowledge of food products, shelf life, and handling requirements is an assetStrong organizational and negotiation skillsAbility to analyze inventory and sales dataSalary in the 70-90,000 range
