PURPOSE :
The Inventory Analyst role is responsible for maintaining accurate item records management, inventory parameters, and pricing data in Business Central, supporting production scheduling activities, preparing key operational reports, and performing regular inventory and MRP maintenance. This role is essential in ensuring data integrity across Supply Chain, Production, and Purchasing and in enabling efficient planning and execution at manufacturing sites.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, advanced excel skills, and hands-on experience working with item records, imports, and reporting inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Send sales order confirmations and posted sales shipment notices from Business Central.
Create Sales Order and Transfer Order import files used in the Production Schedule.
Review transfer order status and correct inventory discrepancies.
Perform inventory adjustments by location group and update adjustment tracking spreadsheets.
Conduct Item Turnover review and identify items requiring safety stock updates or corrections.
Update the barcode tool and distribute it to internal and external users.
Create new part numbers and SKUs; perform mass uploads as required.
Upload and validate purchase price updates.
Complete monthly offsite inventory counts of free issued materials.
Perform monthly MRP Maintenance, including review of exceptions and correction of master data issues.
Complete monthly pallet counts for all locations.
Complete monthly paint inventory counts for all locations.
Complete ad-hoc cycle count support duties as assigned by management.
All other assignments assigned by management.
Item Records Management & Inventory Data Maintenance
Manage new item creation, BOM creation, SKU imports, and mass data uploads in BC.
Maintain accuracy of safety stock levels, vendor records, last direct cost, and purchasing information.
Execute MRP evaluations for specific product groups.
Review and correct bin locations; remove obsolete bins and organize by aisle.
Upload UOMs and delete obsolete pallets or components from the system.
Generate inventory adjustment graphs by location.
Support resolution of inventory valuation issues (e.g., Paint Inventory).
Export ERP data to support ad-hoc analysis and reporting. Prepare advanced excel analyses. Deliberately and carefully scrutinize ERP import data prior to import.
Create and manage work centers, routings, and support MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
Pricing, Costing & Purchasing Support
Update purchase pricing for all active vendors, including manual updates and program-based pricing.
Pull vendor data (vendor #, name, buyer, last direct cost) to support pricing audits, supplier programs, and customer information requests.
Validate domestic vs. overseas material content for designated product groups.
Reporting & Analytics
Prepare recurring and project-based sales, production, and inventory reports, including :
Trailing 12- & 36-month product sales.
Transfer order and sales reports for bumper programs.
SKU export / import reports for various product categories.
Ledger entry consumption and cost reporting.
Prepare reports in support of tariff analysis.
Production Scheduling Support
Maintain and update transfer order and sales order import files for Production Schedule processing.
Prepare documentation and reports supporting Production Scheduling, Transfers, and Assembly output.
Troubleshoot and correct production transfer issues between facilities.
SOP Development & Process Improvement
Create SOPs for Daily, Weekly, and Monthly responsibilities.
Develop SOPs for Transfer Order and Sales Order import processes used in Production Scheduling.
Assist with system cleanup tasks including obsolete shipping agent codes and vendor / payment mappings.
Recommend improvements to BC workflows related to MRP, inventory accuracy, and scheduling reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data imports / exports) is required.
Ability to manage high volumes of data with a high level of accuracy is required.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered an asset.
Experience in supply chain, production planning, inventory control, manufacturing or item record maintenance is considered an asset.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Production, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Warehousing.
Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision at times.
