Position Overview
DEG Engineering Inc. is seeking an Allen-Bradley PLC Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support Rockwell Automation systems for oil & gas facilities across Canada and the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and maintain Rockwell PLC systems (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000)
- Develop shutdown logic, permissives, and interlocks
- Configure PLC hardware, remote I/O, and redundancy
- Integrate PLCs with HMI/SCADA systems
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup
- Prepare Control Narratives, I/O lists, and as-built documentation
- Troubleshoot PLC, network, and field issues
Technical Skills Required
Rockwell Automation
- ControlLogix and CompactLogix programming
- Structured programs using UDTs, AOIs, and modular standards
- Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text
HMI / SCADA
- FactoryTalk View SE / ME configuration
- Alarm and event management
- Screen standards and navigation philosophy
- EtherNet/IP design and diagnostics
- Modbus TCP, DeviceNet, Profibus
- Managed switches, VLANs, network troubleshooting
- FAT / SAT execution
- On-site commissioning and startup
- Cause & Effect and shutdown validation
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Allen-Bradley PLC experience
- Strong troubleshooting and system integration skills
Must be able and willing to travel to the United States
