Electrical Engineer Lead

Overview

Report directly to the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing and managing the design and detail engineering activities of industrial electrical equipment and products, including development of electrical drawings, sizing of electrical components, preparation of bill of materials, and technical supports for other departments. Working knowledge with CSA and UL standard, hazardous location classification and requirement is required. PLC programming knowledge and / or experience is preferred. This position requires full-time onsite presence every day for close interaction with the fabrication and engineering teams at our manufacturing facility in Calgary, AB.

Primary Duties

Team Leadership & Employee Management

• Directly manage Electrical / CAD design team located in Oakville.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on the design, specification, and implementation of electrical systems and control panels.
• Delegate and schedule assignments for the team.
• Responsible for monitoring job performance, reviewing training requirements, and identifying career development goals for direct reports.
• Provide status update to the Engineering Manager and Project Management Team.
• Collaborate and work closely with colleagues in North America, Europe and Asia to review and finalize electrical schematics, layouts, single-line diagrams, and control system designs.
