  • Supports faculty, staff, researchers, and students with teaching tools, web conferencing, and video capture technology.
  • Confirms curriculum alignment with available technology and supports achievement of curriculum goals through technical resources.
  • Supports the development and implementation of course curricula using teaching and learning tools, audio visual equipment, computerized simulators, and dental devices.
  • Demonstrates and teaches technical aspects of operating equipment to faculty members, students, and others.
  • Provides feedback to senior leadership from trainees and instructors on the suitability of facilities and equipment for training needs.
  • Maintains current knowledge of advancements in dental healthcare technology and trends across health science disciplines.
  • Acts as a technical expert in advancing technology throughout the college, clinic, labs, and distributive educational model.
  • Provides technical expertise for specialized dental technology used in teaching and learning, including installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, support, and repair for all information technology (IT) interfaces.
  • Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment.
  • Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates respect and dignity for all members of the community, actively contributes to an environment of acceptance and inclusion of others, and responds to different perspectives from a place of curiosity, respect, and non-judgement.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in research or academic laboratory environments.
  • Knowledge of laboratory IT systems, data acquisition, operating systems, networking basics, scientific software, and data management practices including backup, storage, and retrieval.
  • Familiarity with scientific instruments, such as high-performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometers, fluorescence and atomic force microscopes, and spectrophotometers, as well as lab safety protocols.
  • Understanding of electronics and mechanics related to lab instrumentation.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in time-sensitive matters.
  • Effective organizational, documentation, and active listening skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively.
