Job description

As a Project Manager, you will be a key contributor to managing facilities-regulated programs to achieve the reliable operation and continuous improvement of all assets located within our Canadian footprint. Working closely with Operations, Integrated Planning, and Engineering, you will plan, organize, and execute critical General Plant Maintenance Capital (GPMC) programs. This role relies on your technical expertise, project controls discipline, and stakeholder management skills to deliver safety-critical projects on time and on budget.

Responsibilities:

Project Execution: Supervise and manage General Plant Maintenance Capital (GPMC) projects for process safety-critical equipment, including turbo compressor equipment, auxiliary systems, and balance-of-plant assets.

Regulatory Compliance: Oversee various maintenance projects to ensure all applicable provincial, federal (CER), and corporate safety/environmental requirements are met.

Cost & Schedule Control: Partner with Project Controls to establish baseline execution schedules and spend forecasts. Perform time and cost management, including managing project change control, contingency, and variance reporting.

Contractor Management: Direct the work of external engineering consultants, construction contractors, and third-party inspectors. Coordinate bid packages, RFIs, and change orders.

Resource Optimization: Collaborate with internal field operations and constructability teams to optimize and align field resources for safe implementation.

Continuous Improvement: Analyze program execution data to identify cost savings, process efficiencies, and data integrity improvements.

Education:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Electrical preferred) or a related technical scientific field from an accredited institution.

Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive project management, project engineering, or construction management experience, preferably within the oil and gas, pipeline, or heavy utility sectors.

Systems & Software: Highly proficient in enterprise ERP systems (ideally SAP) and project management software (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or Master Plan tools), along with advanced Excel skills.

Mobility: Must possess a valid Driver's License and be willing to travel to various field locations or compressor stations for temporary assignments/site visits (up to 25% travel).

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Designation: Active P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) status in good standing with a provincial body (e.g., APEGA, PEO).

Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Asset Familiarity: Direct experience working with high-pressure natural gas pipelines, compression facilities, measurement stations, or turbine assets.
