Job description

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership for Aseneskak Casino and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The COO is responsible for overseeing daily operations, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and long‑term organizational growth while ensuring exceptional guest service and operational excellence.

The COO leads all major operational areas including casino operations, finance, human resources, facilities, compliance, marketing, and business development. Working closely with the Board and leadership team, the COO develops and implements strategic plans, operational policies, budgets, and performance goals that support the organization’s mission and long‑term success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing day‑to‑day casino operations and organizational performance.
  • Managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Ensuring compliance with all gaming regulations, policies, and internal controls.
  • Supporting revenue growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Leading and developing management teams while promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing staffing, contract management, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Building strong relationships with partners, regulators, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Supporting opportunities for First Nations Peoples through inclusive employment and professional development initiatives.
  • Representing the organization at company events, trade shows, conferences, and industry functions.
  • Traveling domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or related field; MBA preferred or equivalent executive experience.
  • 5–10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in gaming, hospitality, entertainment, or a related industry.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a valid Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba gaming license.
  • Strong experience in strategic planning, financial management, budgeting, and operational leadership.
  • Experience with contract negotiation, staffing, and workforce management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.
