Based from one of our core offices across Canada (flexible), this individual will support business development and lead the delivery of our developing diking practice, supporting clients on complex, high-impact flood risk reduction and water resources projects in Canada; developing new client pathways and work opportunities in the region.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned technical expert with strong leadership, project delivery, and client development capabilities—especially in the areas of dike infrastructure, floodplain management, and civil design in support of integrated water solutions. You’ll join a national team of engineers, geoscientists, environmental planners, and project managers committed to delivering resilient, sustainable water infrastructure. Join us and help shape the future of water solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads and grows AECOM’s dike infrastructure practice in Canada, with a focus on flood protection systems, riverbank stabilization, dikes, stormwater and conveyance works, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
  • Manage and deliver multi-disciplinary projects, from feasibility and conceptual design through detailed design, tendering, and construction oversight.
  • Actively pursues opportunities with existing and new clients. Manages and grows the dike practice across Canada.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight in civil and geotechnical aspects of levee and surface water protection projects, including integration with hydrotechnical, environmental, and Indigenous engagement teams.
  • Act as technical lead and/or project manager for major projects involving flood risk mitigation, stormwater conveyance, pump stations, dike rehabilitation, and watershed-scale infrastructure planning.
  • Support business development and strategic growth by nurturing client relationships, identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and participating in pursuits with municipal, provincial, Indigenous, and federal clients.
  • Work closely with regional and national leaders to grow the dike and climate adaptation portfolio.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff and contribute to a positive, high-performance team culture.
  • Plays a key role in leading pursuits in the diking and heavy civil market area. Collaborates with other professionals from the department, other departments, and prospective subcontractors to develop the pursuit strategies and write proposals.
  • Establishes communication channels with existing and new clients through project work and business development activities.
  • Development of joint ventures and partnerships with our peers and sub-contractors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, and 8+ years of related experience in levees, flood protection, or related heavy civil infrastructure design and delivery.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with registration in a Canadian province or territory (or eligibility to register within 6 months).
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian codes and standards (e.g., CSA, TAC, Canadian Dam Association guidelines), as well as provincial permitting and regulatory processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of engineering experience with a focus on flood protection, levees, dikes, or stormwater infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience with public sector clients (municipal/provincial/federal), Indigenous communities, and regulatory authorities.
  • Experience with project management and multi-disciplinary coordination on infrastructure projects exceeding $10m construction value.
  • Track record of successful proposal development and pursuit leadership.
  • 5+ years managing other engineers and/or mentoring junior staff.
