Job description

Thornton Tomasetti applies engineering and scientific principles to solve the world’s challenges. An independent organization of creative thinkers and innovative doers collaborating from offices worldwide, our mission is to bring our clients' ideas to life and, in the process, lay the groundwork for a better, more resilient future. We provide support and opportunities to our employees to achieve their full potential and cultivate a rewarding career.

The Thornton Tomasetti Acoustics, Noise and Vibration team deliver projects controlling noise and vibration that can be critical to the success of a building. Perfecting the acoustics in a concert hall, making it easier for students to concentrate in class, limiting uncomfortable sway in tall buildings, protecting industrial workers from hearing loss, keeping sensitive medical imaging equipment rock steady, complying with national or local regulations, or preventing your construction activity from damaging nearby structures, we have the expertise and the team is growing.

You’ll join a local team of industry‑leading specialists while contributing to projects across the globe. This role offers the opportunity to manage multiple assignments, work directly with clients, and collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors. • Solve challenging acoustic, noise, and vibration problems for local and international clients
  • Plan and perform data collection, modeling, post‑processing, and technical analysis
  • Conduct field measurements and site inspections
  • Prepare clear, well‑documented technical reports outlining methodology, findings, and recommendations
  • Support project pursuits through proposal writing, marketing materials, and technical papers
  • Collaborate across disciplines and mentor junior staff members

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (advanced degree preferred) with 5+ years of professional experience in acoustics, noise, and vibration control
  • Demonstrated expertise using sound and vibration measurement instrumentation and industry modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, ODEON, STAMSON, or equivalent)
  • Strong command of physical acoustics, vibration theory, and applicable regulatory codes, standards, and permitting requirements
  • Proven ability to deliver high‑quality technical analysis and documentation while managing budgets, schedules, and client expectations
  • Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies, interpreting mechanical/electrical/process drawings, and mentoring junior technical staff

Compensation

The rate for this position generally is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by Ontario Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law.
