Established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement in 1975, Kativik Ilisarniliriniq has grown to serve a vast, culturally rich area with a strong focus on Inuit values and traditions.

Educational Programs:
Seventeen primary and secondary schools and six adult education centers fall under the school board’s jurisdiction. Educational instruction is provided in three languages: Inuktitut, French, and English, ensuring that the curriculum is accessible and inclusive for all students. The curriculum prioritizes Inuit culture, language, and worldview to safeguard and advance the rich heritage of the Inuit community.
