Student Program & Support Services Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY

The Recreation Therapy student is responsible for providing purposeful intervention using the therapeutic recreation process to improve quality of life for residents of the Home, in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, implement and evaluate individual and group programs.
• Provide assistance or adaptations required to facilitate participation in activities.
• Function as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, residents, families, community groups, associations, institutions and others.
• Maintain a safe environment for activities.
• Support the activities of Residents’ Council, and volunteers.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
• Complete documentation as required.
• Refer to the Residents Bill of Rights according to the MOHLTC.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hours per week may fluctuate. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
