We are seeking a Estimator to join our clients team in the Halifax area. This position is with a growing company that focuses on residential, commercial and industrial construction.

What You'll Do :

Prepare budgets and estimates. This includes determining and quantifying scopes of work, apply pricing to quantified items / scopes of work.

Communicate and clarify work with subtrades to reduce the risk of scope gap / overlap.

  • Capability of preparing accurate budgets.
  • Attend meetings and site visits to determine the level of difficulty and approach of the project.
  • Manage risk by doing proper risk assessments for each estimate. Read and interpret documents, contracts, and supplementary conditions and then create strategies and recommendations to mitigate those risks.
  • Determine an execution plan for the work that is being prepared. Prepare a preliminary schedule to determine durations with start and completion dates.
  • A good understanding of safety requirements and how it applies to the cost of the work.
  • Maintain relationships and clear communication with various stakeholders such as Owner’s / client’s, architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, Acadian team members and management team.

What We're Looking For :

  • CET / P. Tech, or P Eng. designation with related job experience.
  • 2-5 years industry experience.
  • Gold Seal Certification in Estimating would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with MS Office suite including MS Project.
