Job description

The University holds Canada Research Chairs in global and transnational studies and in physical culture and social life, as well as a health research chair in community health and aging.St. Thomas University is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Comptroller to oversee its accounting operations and lead the Financial Services team. Reporting to the Vice-President (Finance and Administration), the Comptroller manages all accounting functions, ensures accurate financial reporting, and supports the annual budget process. The role also includes oversight of the Colleague information system and serves as a key financial resource for the University community.St. Thomas University offers a collaborative and supportive work environment where your expertise will directly contribute to the financial health and success of the University.Full-time, permanent (35 hours per week; Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.)Classification: Exempt, E2Start Date: January 5, 2026Closing date: November 7, 2025 or until filled Responsibilities Manage accounting for operating and endowment funds, including year-end procedures and audit preparation.Prepare monthly financial statements, budget reports, and funding agency submissions.Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.Coordinate reconciliations, account analysis, and project accounting.Manage cash flow and supports annual budget development.Liaise with departments, faculty, staff, and students on financial matters.Maintain relationships with external auditors, banks, and other agencies. Qualifications University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.You have a CPA designation.3-5 years of accounting experience, including supervisory experience.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting software.Familiarity with university financial administration is an asset.Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.Application Information:The closing date for receipt of applications is November 7, 2025 or until filled.
