• Eligibility for benefits is dependent on the terms of employmentThe Opportunity : The Third party Residential Underwriting Division as a Division of First National Financial provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the Canadian Mortgage Broker to the Manager the Residential Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for rendering credit decisions on incoming applications within their authorized limits and with adherence to company and insurer policies and guidelines while focusing on service excellence. The Mortgage Underwriter has responsibility for applying due diligence when reviewing required documentation to ensure accuracy and to protect the Company from Duties and Responsibilities : Establishes and maintains positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to the CompanyMaintains positive relationships with external partners such as mortgage insurers appraisers title insurance companies and solicitorsAdjudicates mortgage applications within established authority limits while ensuring adherence to policies and guidelinesInteracts with Mortgage Insurers where applicable to complete credit lending decisionsEnsures due diligence has been completed prior to signing off on any mortgage conditions or documents where applicablePrepares and issues mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions within established service level agreements / turnaround timesPriorities applications and workflow to ensure consistent and sound risk assessments are maintained while managing high volumes and a continued focus on service excellenceStays current with latest industry knowledge competition and market trendsSkills and Attributes : Ability to build and maintain positive relationshipsStrong aptitude for service excellenceStrong communication skillsboth written and verbalAbility to manage and resolve conflictStrong analytical skillsAttention to detailOrganizational and time management skillsPositive team player with desire and ability to mentor othersEffective problem solving and decision making skillsFully competent in working with basic PC software and working knowledge of the suite of Microsoft office productsAbility to manage pressure in an environment of high volume processing with tight turnaround timesAdhere to policies / procedures to ensure AML requirements are met.
