Freight Operator

Job Description

The position of Freight Operator will be based out of LDC’s new Freight representative office in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and will have the opportunity to join one of the major global drybulk freight operators, shipping 55 million tons of cargoes per year, concentrating integrated activities of chartering, trading and market analysis. Specific duties and responsibilities include :

• Communicate and liaise with vessel owners / masters / charterers / agents, trading team and other relevant stakeholders
• Responsible for following up on post fixture activities
• Basic understanding of Stowage Plan, intake optimization
• Bunkering, ensure close collaboration with bunker desk to successfully manage bunker planning
• Voyage Optimization & vessel performance with assistance from 3rd party Routing providers
• Understanding principles of Voyage Profit & Loss
• Knowledge of main charter party clauses
• Manage assigned external relations with customers and / or vendors
• Ensure vessels quick turnaround in port by liaising with local agents
• Prepare and ensure freight and hire are paid / received in a timely manner
• Ensure and champion a close and harmonious working relationship with the relevant Commercial team
• Collaborate effectively with other Freight Platform desks
• Updating and full utilization of digital tools IMOS, Sedna etc.
