ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Addiction and Mental Health Counsellor I to join our dedicated team. This role involves providing high-quality addiction and mental health services to clients with complex needs, emphasizing stabilization, ongoing care, and treatment planning. The counsellor will work collaboratively with the integrated addiction programs and will collaborate with Balmoral Centre, Crossroads, Sister Margaret Smith Centre and the Lodge on Dawson.

HIRING DEADLINE: March 06, 2026

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor level University degree in Social Work or related discipline
  • Registration with the College of Registered Social Workers (RSW) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience within the adult addiction and mental health field
  • Experience working with individuals who are homeless or at risk for homelessness
  • Experience with group facilitation, case management, and individual counselling

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in evidence-based treatment modalities for addiction and mental health
  • Experience in crisis intervention and non-violent crisis de-escalation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Experience with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial model of care
  • Demonstrated understanding of Northern and Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
  • Registered member of Professional College in good standing
  • Valid Ontario driver's license - Class G
